Motionwise offers a self-help process called the Feldenkrais Method® (group classes and one-on-one sessions which can be tailor-made to the individual), which is a way of enhancing awareness (consciousness allied to knowledge) of one’s own movement and organisation of action by attending to:
* particular sensations (like effort, weight, smoothness, fluidity, rhythm, pressure, etc),
* balance capabilities and the equitable distribution of labour,
* skeletal connections, bio-mechanical efficacy and neurological patterns, etc.
Exploring a wide variety of movements in these ways can lead to an improvement in one’s self-image, coordination, and gracefulness; an increased capacity to carry out all the activities of daily living, sports, performing arts and leisure pursuits, etc; as well as to a reduction in tension and pain. The more robust, adaptable and physically competent a person feels, the more she/he is able to pursue unavowed dreams, leading to increased satisfaction with her/his life.
Classes and individual sessions run for about an hour.
