“A hospital-based education program for hospitalised students and their siblings from Prep to Year 12. Students are generally receiving hospital treatment for a short stay or a chronic health condition and may need to recover at home for some time before returning to school. This program delivers face to face teaching at the bedside to engage students in targeted learning tasks based on the Australian Curriculum, as well as in a dedicated classroom space. It aims to assist in student progress and transition while they are unable to attend their base school. The program collaborates with the student’s base school and other educational institutions to ensure continuity in student’s learning. Students who are unable to return to school upon discharge may be eligible for the Virtual Hospital Education Program. The Hospital Education Program is proudly partnered with the Townsville Community Learning Centre. Families can access various support services and facilities, include Ronald McDonald House Charities’ family accommodation, parent lounge and Learning Program.
