- The Townsville Branch is the local arm of the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland
- The branch takes an active interest in wildlife conservation and management issues within and beyond the city and in the management of our local environment and national parks
- The branch fosters environmental education through a program of monthly field trips, and through information displays (often jointly with other groups) at public events.
- The branch is currently conducting monitoring surveys to assess the occurence of Mahogany gliders and some other mammals in our region.
- Any interested members of the public are welcome to join our field trips and other events.
