The Smith Family has been the Facilitating Partner for the Australian Government’s Townsville West Region Communities for Children Facilitating Partner (CfCFP) since 2005. We facilitate the delivery of a range of services designed to improve outcomes for children from 0 to 12 years old and their families within the local community.
The Townsville West CfC initiative operates in Queensland within the suburbs of Currajong, West End, Aitkenvale, Garbutt, Gulliver, Heatley and Vincent, which are all located within the local government area of the City of Townsville.
Funded programs delivered by our Community Partners:
Churches of Care Qld: Dthulgurri Weeburra Giyu program provides a number of playgroups in the area and delivers a parenting program to increase respectful, caring and nurturing relationships between parents and their children by using the evidence-based program, ‘Bringing Up Great Kids’.
Garbutt Bombers Cultural and Sporting Association: Murma Yallorin program supports young primary children and their families access sport in a supportive environment that is culturally appropriate.
Community Gro; Linking to Schools supports families to navigate life’s complexities to improve school attendance and relationship with the school.
QPASTT; Thriving Mums-Thriving families program is working with our CALD communities to improve individual and family wellbeing.
Life Education; runs the Triple P positive parenting program to support their children to develop resilience as well as manage anxiety.
Pathways to Resilience; works with Early Years Educators using the Wings to Fly program a strengths-based approach for early years’ educators to optimise their practice supporting the development of social and emotional wellbeing for children.
