The Townsville Community Care Unit (TCCU) and Acquired Brain Injury Unit (ABIU) is a residential facility with a strong focus on return-to-community living and community inclusion.
Consumer programs are individualised and include living skills, recreational and leisure activities, medication education, budget management and assistance with accessing education, training and employment.
Programs at TCCU and ABIU are recovery focused, and consumers and family/carers are encouraged to actively participate in program planning and review of their achievements.
The multidisciplinary team consists of a consultant psychiatrist, psychiatric registrar, mental health nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, Indigenous mental health workers and rehabilitation assistants.
