• Early Childhood Education and Care provide strategic leadership in early learning and child development in Queensland by developing and implementing policy, risk-based regulation, continuous quality improvement and investment.
• We use evidence-based strategies to increase the access, engagement, inclusion and wellbeing of children aged from birth to 8 years in early childhood programs and services.
• We regulate by:
o administering the National Quality Framework (NQF) and the Education and Care Services Act 2013 (licensing, monitoring, enforcing, assessing, rating and educating the ECEC sector)
o adopting a best-practice risk-based approach under the Regulating for Quality Strategy
o collecting, analysing and reporting on data to improve the regulation of ECEC services
• We collaborate by:
o working with regions, partner agencies, organisations and communities to support children’s participation in kindergarten, reduce vulnerability, improve wellbeing prior to school and continuity of learning
o engaging with parents/carers to support them to play an active role in their child’s learning and development
o supporting culturally responsive learning for all Queensland children
o working with the early childhood sector to facilitate a skilled and qualified workforce.
• We deliver by:
o providing early learning programs including Kindergarten in state schools in specific rural and remote areas
o connecting parents/carers to programs and resources through targeted campaigns and our interactive website
o providing access to capability building opportunities for Department of Education and early childhood sector staff and providers.
