Division 1 – Councillor
Paul Jacob was born in Sydney and completed his education at Birrong Boys High. He completed an apprenticeship as an Electronics and Communications technician, working in many outstations including Telephony and Satellite Stations around the country.
After qualifying as a Technical Officer, Cr Jacob was posted to the Satellite Earth Station in Moree, New South Wales before working as a Technical Officer in the Navy’s Royal Australian Navy Trials and Assessing Unit for ten years.
Cr Jacob and his family relocated to Townsville over thirty years ago. Since then, he has worked for Townsville Human Capital, James Cook University and the Townsville Hospital.
Division 1 is the largest in the Townsville local government area, taking in rural, semi-rural and urban areas. As the local representative, Cr Jacob’s focus will be on meeting with the different communities in the division every month.
Cr Jacob’s motivation will be to support a back-to-basics approach encompassing roads, transport, sewerage, transfer stations and assisting the Mayor with forming policy in his role as Deputy Mayor.
Cr Jacob’s wife, who is retired, has an interest in breeding Sphynx cats and is the main reason he put his hand up again to be a Councillor.
