Sera’s Women’s Shelter provides short-term crisis accommodation and assistance for women and children escaping domestic and family violence. Sera’s prioritises local referrals from Townsville, Ingham, Ayr, Charter’s Towers and surrounding areas. Referral from outside this catchment are assessed and considered on a case-by-case basis. Sera’s has 14 self-contained short term crisis accommodation units available for women and children needing safe shelter for DFV. To maintain safety and security at shelter, no alcohol or illicit substances are allowed on site. Women are required to participate in daily case management and limitations of stay require confidentiality.
