Woodstock State School was opened on 8 September, 1890. In 2015 our school celebrated 125 years with a gala event and this year is also the year for our biennial Country Fair to be held in late August.
It is located at Woodstock approx 42 km south/west of Townsville.
The district is primarily a rural area, producing beef cattle and small crop farming. It is however taking on a semi-rural face with large blocks of land being subdivided into small acreage—20 to 50 acre blocks. This making way for growth in the area and subsequent growth in our school.
Our motto “Each day brings a chance to do better”, highlights our belief that everything, no matter how good it may seem, can be made better. Our students and staff are constantly pushing standards higher and refusing to rest on past achievements.
We are a small, caring country school with an enrolment of 48 students. The students are drawn from Toonpan to Reid River out to Majors Creek. We have multi-aged classes which enact our school motto of ‘Each Day Brings a Chance to Do Better.’ The community is heavily engaged in school activities and events such as sports day, under 8’s day, swimming carnival, and excursions. The P&C actively fundraises to ensure the students have the best experience of school possible through events such as the bi-annual country fair, trivia nights and raffles.
