Emma Murphy – Artist & Designer | Koble Studio
Emma Murphy is an Australian artist and designer whose creative world is inspired by the beauty of nature, history, and storytelling. Working under the name Koble Studio—a nod to her Norwegian heritage, meaning to connect—Emma blends vibrant colours, a fashion-illustrative edge, and echoes of Viking warrior women in her work.
With deep family roots tracing back to Welsh and Scottish ancestry, and Norwegian sailors who (rather controversially) arrived on whaling ships before settling in Wollongong with bullock teams, Emma’s heritage feeds into a visual language that is rich, layered, and full of character.
Emma’s work is shaped by the Australian landscape—from the dry red earth of the Pilbara and the vibrant tropics of Darwin to the reefs of Queensland and the spiritual pulse of Uluru. Whether it’s a large-scale mural, a fresh visual merchandising concept for a shopfront, or bespoke décor, Emma creates from her home studio with the flexibility to bring projects to you.
Her journey has taken her across the country—from remote desert towns to the leafy streets of Brisbane’s Paddington—drawing on nature, tourism, and local culture to create engaging, place-based art. Now calling Townsville home, Emma is excited to share her passion for colour, community and connection with the region.
Excited to spark new collaborations and celebrate Townsville, along with all the beauty Australia has to offer.
