A local and regional community not-for-profit organization encourages its member artists to enjoy, learn, exhibit and sell their artwork. The Townsville Art Society operates the ‘Art at Jezzine’ Gallery and Classroom Hut at Jezzine Barracks. Classes and workshops, for children and adults, beginners to advanced, artists and social groups, are held on a regular basis in the Classroom Hut. Art lovers are encouraged to join Friends of TAS – application forms are available at Art at Jezzine Gallery or on the TAS website. The Society, in conjunction with the Townsville City Council and Perc Tucker Regional Gallery, organizes the prestigious TAS Art Awards each year to promote artistic excellence in our community.
