Youth Health Promotions – Deadly Choices delivers a service to schools and community based health and education organisation from grade 4 – 12, providing promotion and prevention activities across the region that assist local and regional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and Youth, with a focus to reduce chronic disease factors, particularly smoking cessation, tobacco education, improve levels of nutrition and increasing physical activity. Deadly Choices also delivers programs and activities to youth 16 – 25 years of age and Seniors. The team will also work collaboratively with the TAIHS school-based Health Promotion Coordinator and TAIHS Youth Services to implement effective health promotion interventions in accordance with the TAIHS school-based health promotion action plan, the Regional Plan and the Deadly Choices Procedure Manuals. This team will have strong focus on reducing health equity and enabling positive health outcomes by working in partnership with a range of external stakeholders.
