We are a local sporting association, with a history dating back to 1949.
Phoenix has a focus on community involvement and inclusivity. A group of experienced coaches, managers, and administrators with a passion for basketball have come together to reform the club.
The club caters for every age and ability. Phoenix has an emphasis on not only helping our members become better players, but also becoming better members of the community.
Initially, the club will be developing its younger teams, with the next junior season starting in October. We will start recruiting senior teams early next year.
Our junior teams play Saturdays and Sundays during school terms:
• Summer season October-March
• Winter season April-September
Phoenix Basketball Club Objectives:
• Ensure a sustainable club which delivers on the values and overall objectives of the Club
• Teach, develop and promote the sport of basketball in Townsville, Queensland.
• Provide structured developmental programs to improve individual and team basketball skills to the highest level possible
• Encourage playing for enjoyment rather than just to win.
• Encourage the development of sportsperson like conduct and teamwork co-operation with all participants including Referees and Officials.
• Develop Player’s respect for themselves, Referees, Officials, opponents and property
• Provide a positive environment that attracts and retains players, coaches and team managers
