St Joseph’s Catholic School, The Strand is proudly the first Catholic school to be established in Townsville in 1873.
The school has served generations of families and has transformed over the decades as a modern and innovative learning community offering Kindergarten through to Year 6. St Joseph’s Catholic School, The Strand is part of the Mary Help of Christians Parish in North Ward, along with neighbouring St Patrick’s College, a Catholic secondary girls college.
The school provides an environment based on the Catholic tradition with a commitment to lifelong learning, recognising each child as unique and formed in the image of God. The school community fosters a friendly, trusting collaboration between principal, teachers, parish priest and parents for the ongoing development of each child.
St Joseph’s values a strong, supportive and involved Catholic school community. We seek to create an environment where all children, staff, parents and guardians feel valued, included and engaged. Parents and carers are the first educators of our students, and we seek to work alongside you to develop and educate the whole child socially, emotionally, academically, spiritually and physically. St Joseph’s has a strong tradition of academic, sporting and cultural success across all year levels. We feel it is essential that every child is given the opportunity to experience success and develop their potential. St Joseph’s is a Catholic school committed to an education centered on Christ and the Gospel values. These are implicit in every aspect of school life and define our interactions with one another.
