DVNQ offers a range of crisis intervention, face to face intervention and group programs for programs for experiencing domestic and family violence and for people using violence.
DVNQ is the lead agency for the Townsville High Risk Team (HRT). The HRT is a key component of the integrated service response. It performs the role of coordinating and focusing the efforts of government and community sector agencies to keep domestic and family violence victims safe and hold the person using the violence to account.
Programs for women and children include:
- Aardvarc Program – a healing program for children and young people aged 4-18 and their non-violent caregiver – see separate entry
- Home Safety Upgrades – Choosing Safety Program
- Court Support
- Crisis Support and Advocacy. Walk in or phone support for people experiencing domestic and family violence
- Police referrals and Domestic Violence Protection Order Applications
- NQ Action Group – monthly meeting DVNQ
- Facilitation of the DV Action Group and DV NetworkPrograms for men include:
- Men’s Respondent Worker
- MenTER (Men Towards Equal Relationships) – in person and online group program for men who use violence and abuse in their relationship – see separate entry
- Community education and training for services, community organisations and individuals on topics relating to domestic and family violence
