TIS is an interpreting service provided by the Department of Home Affairs to people who do not speak English and to agencies and businesses that need to communicate with their non-English speaking clients. These services enable non-English speaker to independently access services and information in Australia.
TIS provides immediate telephone interpreting services, automated, pre-booked telephone and on-site interpreting, and video remote interpreting for any person or organisation in Australia requiring interpreting services. The service has over 2700 interpreters across Australia in more than 150 different languages and dialects. Available 24 hours a day every day of the year. Fees vary depending on the service provided and are posted on the website.
