The Magnetic Island RSL Sub Branch Memorial Hall officially opened on 28 August 1962. Originally, the hall was basic—no ceiling, fans, or toilets—but over the decades, it has evolved through ongoing enhancements and now holds a cherished place in the community. Today our Sub Branch, located at 31 Hayles Avenue, Arcadia, QLD 4819 warmly welcomes ex-service personnel, non-service (social) members, and visitors. Membership is affordable: ex-Service membership is $20/year and non-service is $15/year.
The Sub‑Branch is deeply involved in both veteran welfare and community engagement:
Offers home maintenance support, welfare visits, and telephone support for sick or frail veterans or surviving family members
– Hosts key annual commemorations: ANZAC Day Dawn Service (6:10 AM at Alma Bay Centotaph, followed by breakfast at the Hall) and Remembrance Day, with wreath-laying ceremonies and refreshments. We have also begun commemorating Vietnam Veterans Day in August.
We host a Friday night markets every week, with several food options outside in our garden and indoor dining also available. On Friday nights we also hold a Trivia night, and run our very popular Jag the Joker.
Sunday nights are our Roast nights, with a choice between 2 roast options, and a several other menu options including vegetarian. Please enquire about vegan and gluten free options.
As part of the North Queensland District of RSL Queensland, the Magnetic Island Sub‑Branch embodies the RSL’s mission: honoring veterans, delivering welfare services, and fostering community spirit on a local level.
