Management of Public Intoxication Program (MPIP) is a mobile outreach program designed to divert people who are intoxicated in public places from custody and minimise harm. We are funded by the Queensland Government and focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to reduce deaths in custody.
Although many of the people we work with are homeless, we also work with people who have homes but who use alcohol or other drugs in public places.
Our long term aim is to support people to better manage their substance use, but in the short term we focus on harm minimisation and healing.
