The Townsville Dante Alighieri Society is a vibrant, active not-for-profit organisation established with the enthusiasm and the dedication of local community members. Dante has been operating in Townsville for over 60 years and is one of many branches located worldwide.
The Society attracts Australians of both Italian and non-Italian backgrounds.
The Society is primarily funded through membership fees, the proceeds of language courses, and a number of other activities it organises and plans throughout the year.
Language Courses
The Society is committed to maintaining Italian language courses as the main activity of the organisation. All educational activities are looked after by a Courses Director who is a native Italian speaker and an experienced teacher of Italian.
Social Highlights
Throughout the year, the Townsville Dante Alighieri Society holds educational and recreational events which range from movie screenings of recent Italian film releases as well as classic Italian films, dinners, lectures on Italy including music and art, and social games, amongst other activities.
These cultural events are usually announced on the Dante Facebook Page.
The Townsville Dante Alighieri Society also supports and participates in local celebrations and festivals, such as the Italian Republic Day and other local events that promote Italian culture and art.
Please refer to the Society’s website for information on membership and language course details.
